  • Final Fantasy XV trailer premieres at Tokyo Game Show

My god, Square Enix is churning them out. Non-stop Final Fantasy spin-offs, but now the main franchise reaches part 15! I have to say, it is quite the beautiful game. But man, has it lost it’s appeal, to me anyway. Driving around in a car fighting giant creatures from Shadow of the Colossus just feels like it’s borrowing from other huge games that made those gimmicks work. If the Final Fantasy games didn’t run out of original ideas yet and go the way of Resident Evil, then this may be a sign.

  • Do Not Use FreedomPop: It’s a Scam!!!

    By Chongchen Saelee

Man o man, what a rip-off. FreedomPop, a company that supposedly offers FREE INTERNET AND PHONE service to unsuspecting customers sounds too good to be true, right? Duh. And it fooled me, so it’ll fool you. But now I’m doing my part to tell you to avoid these scam artists!

To be fair, they aren’t legally scammers. Morally and ethically, yeah, I’m going to back my words and say FreedomPop is a shady and scammy company. And that’s why it’s infuriating.

FreedomPop’s hardware works. It’s software works. It’s service works. But all of that comes only via scammy tactics to get you to buy certain packages and certain hardware and in only certain regions. So if you’re not well-versed in any of the technology, the legalese, the lingo, the marketing deception and fine print, they’re going to pocket your money.

    And here’s my personal experience:

I just got $39.99 refunded back to me. But that’s not the whole refund. They actually swindled from me $46.98 in the beginning. That’s the total cost of their refurbished Sierra Freedom Spot Overdrive Pro + shipping and handling (and not to mention the $16 it took me to UPS an RMA request of that POS back to them). If you do the math, they didn’t reimburse me for shipping and handling, but they did reimburse me for the full price of the hotspot. Good for them. But that’s only because I made it clear I wanted a FULL REFUND and not to pocket a $10 reshelving/restocking fee. You’d probably get hooked with that one if you didn’t read their fine print. And thank goodness some other poor sap who got duped blogged about that because I wouldn’t have known.

Anyway, like the other complaints, the first clue that FreedomPop was shady was when you first sign up how long it took for you to receive your hotspot. And their marketing is extra deceptive. You’re made to think that if you get this hotspot device, you will automagically get access to you FREE data usage. And that’s not the case.

The Overdrive Pro is a 3G/4G device. And if you didn’t know anything about the differences between 3G, 4G, 4G WiMax, 4G LTE, which are all different protocols of wireless technology, then you’d mistakenly think 4G ecompasses all 4G-tagged technologies, which is not the case. This damn Overdrive Pro only supports 3G+4G! And where I live, we ONLY HAVE 4G LTE. So to my dumbfounded surprise, booting up that puck, I learn I don’t have 4G access and it’s trying to connect to 3G the entire time.

And of course, there is no 3G in my area. Thus, no FREE INTERNET OR PHONE SERVICE.

You can access the Internet but only their website so you can login. That’s how you know it works. You login and the first thing they bombard you with is that you need to buy their 3G/4G montly package to utilize your “free” data. Shady as fuck.

YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR 3G/4G monthly package to use their service. Essentially, you have to pay to take advantage of their “free data” giveaway. Those non-tangible megabytes and gigabytes of data they make up is what hooks our greed into their service. It could be ANY made up number: kajillion bytes free data, infinity bytes free data. But unless you have the proper hardware and software, it’s moot, isn’t it? And they already got your money. And they’ll hold onto your money with their grubby hands until you beg and plead with them to return it. But only after you request an RMA return and refund for your obsolete device.

THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR IN CASE YOU HAVE THE ITCH TO SIGN UP, BUT I RECOMMEND AVOIDING AT ALL COSTS:

-When you are first registering, their graphical interface is intentionally meant to be confusing, putting the words FREE next to and actually PAID package, and having the actual FREE package unchecked to begin with.
-Keep an eye on all the pre-checked checkboxes for fine-print nickel-and-dime services. After you ordered your service package and hardware, there is a pre-selected service to carry over your unused data. They’ll charge you for that monthly. And they can do that legally because they put that in their fine print, so you’re left looking like a dumbass while they pocket your money, which you legally owe them for being an ignorant dumbass. Got it?
-There was also a pre-selected “auto top off” feature. Essentially, if you were about to reach your 500MB free data cap, they’d automatically “refill” it for you, but now charging you for subscribing to a monthly service.
-There was also a “maintenance” fee that they charged unsuspecting user if they didn’t use at least 5MB of their free data. But by the time I signed up, too many complaints were filed, so the company discontinued that feature. Woo-hoo, thanks, FreedomPop for being so generous and transparent.

And you give them your credit card information this whole friggin’ time for a supposedly FREE service. Who knows what kind of shit that can start charging you with?

    Moral of the story:

AVOID FREEDOMPOP. Nothing is FREE IN LIFE. They’re banking on poor people’s desperation and greed to reel you in. If you really really need phone or Internet service, PAY for it with a reputable company. That’s the only way.

  • Making Internet Money: Fiverr vs. AdSense

    By Chongchen Saelee

I use both AdSense and Fiverr to make chump change from the Internet. Making money on the Internet is hard work. You put in a lot of hours and get very little or nothing in return. But if you do it just right, some have made a living off the Internet. It took me at least 5 years to begin to generate some traffic and make those beans. And I’m grateful for all the Internet supporters.

But I want to point out why I like Fiverr better than AdSense. Granted, AdSense is good PASSIVE income. It’s not a lot, but it does it’s job. Fiverr, on the other hand, is almost real-time. (more…)

  • True 4K resolution Blu-rays are coming

    http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=14923

My god, why? I’m just getting used to standard HD (720p or 1080p). Now they want to sell us 3840 × 2160p x 60fps. Sure, things will look more lifelike, but I can’t imagine anyone having the time to appreciate it. People work, people are busy, they really don’t give a rat’s ass about ALL THAT RESOLUTION. Who really needs that kind of resolution besides feds and surveillance junkies? Even porn failed to sell this new tech, and they even tried 3D HD!

Well, we’ll see. It’s becoming more like, who cares? Try telling a decent story for a change rather than just peddling a better looking picture.

  • Telepathy Experiment Sends First Message Across Great Distance

    http://news.yahoo.com/telepathy-experiment-sends-1st-mental-message-222701481.html

I’m embarrassed by the comments on that article. People are still in denial. Or, they’re the ones doing it. Mind invasion. It’s real. It’s about absolute population control. Forget what those loser scientists claim that it’s for the greater good. Every movie that Hollywood makes now is literally stolen from someone’s dreams. Literally. That’s why you better start thinking like a hallucination to throw these losers off.

  • FreedomPop Free Internet Uses Scam Marketing!!!

Yessir, I just got duped by FreedomPop. I’ll do a full follow-up.

  • How To Track Down Jennifer Lawrence Nude Pics Hacker

How To Track Down Jennifer Lawrence Nude Pics Hacker
    By Chongchen Saelee

If you haven’t been informed, apparently a hacker has unleashed a collection of nude pics of female celebrities via 4Chan. The hacker seems to have obtained the pics from iCloud or some kind of cloud network that these female celebrities subscribed to. Most of the pics’ context involve them in sexting or post-coital states of undress. Some just look like selfies. They look authentic, and two of the compromised actresses (Jennifer Lawrence and Mary Elizabeth Winstead) have confirmed they are real. The Mary Elizabeth Winstead ones look tame and intimate (the context she claims she shot with her husband), so that one looks convincing. But the Jennifer Lawrence ones don’t make sense. Was she a prostitute? She looks exploited in some of those pics. If they were during sex, they sure are strange. If you’re an actress, you’d only pose like that for a man that was a real bad boy. Think Pamela Anderson via Tommy Lee.

So that leads me to the real point of this post. Who posted these pics? (more…)

  • Dude Makes Homeade Exoskeleton Suit

    http://www.engadget.com/2014/08/31/homemade-weightlifting-exoskeleton/

The dude can lift up to 170 some pounds “easily” but as I watch him do it, I noticed that it would be physically impossible if he didn’t already have the legs to support the weight. It’s all physics. He mentions this at the end of the video that he wouldn’t be able to lift 300 pounds. That defeats the purpose of an exosuit. You shouldn’t require your own effort. The Japanese and DARPA already have one that look like a folded out toilet but that one looks too clunky and slow. Cool effort though. No real reason anyone should ever need one in day to day life.

  • China To Create Own Operating System

    http://www.businessinsider.com/r-china-targets-own-operating-system-to-take-on-likes-of-microsoft-google-2014-8

    By Chongchen Saelee

Yeah, right. I know the Chinese Government doesn’t like people taking shit about them, but like ANY operating system is an indication of what the social structure of the origin nation it’s from (because software has to be based on real social dynamics), then Chinese software is going to be crap. I’m just being honest.

Sure, it’ll work. But it’ll also be big and fancy on launch. But a lot of the components is going to be stolen or plagarized. The code will be shoddy and sloppy written. Customer service will suck. And expect a lot of backdoors and snooping.

Granted, the software out of Microsoft, the core code anyway, is solid, but everything else comes from India, China, Brazil, Sweden, etc, you name it. But it’s that core code and the handshake protocols with hardware is what gives most Microsoft users a peace of mind, even if NSA, FBI, and CIA exploit these machines to spy on consumers. There has to be a sense of REAL security that these feds aren’t going to break the system or do something incredibly nefarious.

Imagine those corrupt Chinese with access would really create some havoc for personal gain. They sell imposter meats for Christ’s sake.

Pretty much, I wouldn’t trust a Chinese operating system.
