Father’s Day Stuff: Baby Drawings

In honor of my father and uncle, I’d thought I’d honor Father’s Day with these drawings from my uncle’s kids that they drew while I babysitted them between the ages of 0 to 6 years old.

This is particularly funny to me because my little cousin is starting out writing and trying to tell a story about how my mom's fish died.

I pretty much watched these kids on a regular basis right out of college because my uncle and aunt were new parents both busy working, from the day they were born until taking them to their first couple years of school. So I spent a lot of time watching them: changing their diapers, feeding them, keeping them entertained, playing with them, etc. And sometimes, I get bored or got stuff to do, so I give them some drawing materials to keep them occupied. Early on, I got petty because they were using up my “expensive” art supplies I bought during college. Only now do I realize, it’s actually not a big deal. Nurturing their creativity and innocence is priceless.

May one day, a child draws a picture for you. Happy Father’s Day!
