Why do the villains have to look cooler than the hero?

Two versions to litter the Interwebs:

The first one looks more sketch-like, kinda cool, but I wasn’t ready to record it. The second one turned out ok, but it might have looked better painted. I spent too much time “comic-booky” lining it.
