There is SOMETHING in my omelette!

On tonight’s menu, we are having fried chicken eggs with crickets. The chef’s special.

Because I bought a lot of Crickettes (fried and seasoned crickets) and frankly no one in the house has the guts or appetite to eat any, I had to find ways to consume them myself. So, the salt and vinegar ones are the worst of the bunch because they are too salty to snack on alone. So I decided to put some into an omelette! And because the Crickettes are so salty, I don’t need to add salt. Schwing!

Crickette Omelette

Note: I ALWAYS eat my omelettes with green onion. ALWAYS. I’m spoiled like that. Fried eggs is the most basic of basic foods, the cavemen invented it, so the green onion makes it a little more luxurious and doesn’t remind me that it’s “just eggs”.

Crickette Omelette

Crickette Omelette

Final verdict: the Crickettes were still incredibly salty, and I put two pouches (approx. 16 crickets) in with 4 large eggs. Fried nicely. Again, nothing special. They were still much like salty sunflower seeds. Crickettes didn’t contribute much of anything to the dish other than salt.

Garcon, garcon!
