  • Sharp-edge shadow self portrait

My attempt to create self portraits with sharper-edged shadows, thus making myself look more masculine. You do this by putting the light source closer to the subject, in this case, my face. It doesn’t quite have the same effect as the flash because my bulbs might be a lower color temperature (3500K rather than 5500K, even though it says it is 5500K on the bulbs, mighta been duped).

Used the flash and got a surprisingly decent result. The hot light gives a deep shadow but also very sharp and crisp look. The shadow underneath my jaw makes me look more masculine. In my other shots, the softer light wraps around my chubby, boyish face, so I can never quite look as hunky. (I knew I looked different in the previous photos than I see myself in the bathroom mirror!)
