My attempt to create self portraits with sharper-edged shadows, thus making myself look more masculine. You do this by putting the light source closer to the subject, in this case, my face. It doesn’t quite have the same effect as the flash because my bulbs might be a lower color temperature (3500K rather than 5500K, even though it says it is 5500K on the bulbs, mighta been duped).

I just shaved today.

And, the best of today’s self portraits…

Used the flash and got a surprisingly decent result. The hot light gives a deep shadow but also very sharp and crisp look. The shadow underneath my jaw makes me look more masculine. In my other shots, the softer light wraps around my chubby, boyish face, so I can never quite look as hunky. (I knew I looked different in the previous photos than I see myself in the bathroom mirror!)

Oh, tonight was a frustrating waste of time. I chatted for nearly 2 hours with “someone”. It was supposedly a real local woman looking for a casual encounter on Craigslist. Usually, I can detect these easily because there are tell-tale signs, but I was inclined to believe this person was a local because she looked local in her pics. Anyway, it didn’t get anywhere. So let me share with you poor saps how to spot a fake post on Craigslist or Backpage anyway. It’s the least I can do. (more…)
